MATERIAL SELECTION WORKSHEET

Choose material direction by the packaging job.

Compare the component, product contact, process, use, route and end-of-use questions before asking which material direction deserves a closer review.

This worksheet prepares questions. It does not decide suitability, compliance, recyclability or food-contact scope.

PREPARE YOUR QUESTIONS

Define the material job before comparing a material name.

Start with the component and what it needs to do. A general question is enough; add details as you learn them.

Your material questions

Fill in what you know. Leave open questions for the conversation. Entries stay on this page until you copy them; nothing is sent.

Which tray, insert, lid or outer-pack part are you asking about?

What might touch the product? Add time or temperature if known.

How is it filled, closed, assembled or handled?

What should it support, protect, display or make easier to open?

Add any known destination, transport or disposal questions.

What would you like to ask about the material or its supporting documents?

HELP FOR YOUR COMPONENT

A few questions that depend on the component.

Use these prompts if you are unsure what to put in your note.

01Formed primary pack
  1. Which surface touches the product, and for how long or at what temperature?
  2. How will the tray or container be formed, filled and closed?
02Support or insert
  1. Where should the insert support or separate the product, and will it touch the product?
  2. How will it be placed and removed without getting in the way of the primary pack?
03Printed or outer component
  1. Will the component display, group or ship the product, and what moisture or stacking will it face?
  2. Which print, coating, adhesive or assembly details need to be discussed?

The worksheet does not return a material recommendation. Confirm applicability and document scope for the identified component and project.

A general material question is enough to start.

Tell us which component you are asking about and what it needs to do. Copy any useful notes above, or start with the question you have now.

Let’s discuss what you need to pack.

Start with a photo, an existing pack or a question. You do not need a complete specification to begin.
