Existing reference
When an available shape may suit your product without structural changes.
Check the actual product, closure and packing conditions on a sample. A similar appearance does not establish fit.
Adapt a format
When a reference is useful but a specific feature needs to change.
Describe the change and what must stay fixed. The review determines whether it can be adapted and whether tooling must change.
New tooling
When available references cannot provide the shape or function your product needs.
