How to review a fruit-pack sample.
A written guide to checking a fruit-pack sample with your fruit, closure and carton, then preparing useful feedback.
Overview
Identify the exact sample.
Reference and version
Write down the visible sample reference and revision exactly as shown.
Date and source
Record when the sample arrived and which brief, drawing or earlier sample it answers.
Photo note
Keep photos with the same version so later comments are not attached to the wrong sample.
Overview
Try three normal packing actions.
Fill with your fruit
Use the fruit size and quantity you intend to pack. Note where it sits, moves or touches the packaging.
Close and open
Close the filled pack, then open it as intended. Identify any edge, cover or support that needs attention.
Place in your carton
Use the planned rows, layers and other contents. Check the available space and how a pack is removed.
Comparison
Separate what you saw from what you want changed.
At the cover
- What I saw
- “With the fruit inside, the cover touches the fruit at the front.”
- What I want to discuss
- “Can we review the space above the fruit and the support position?”
Inside the carton
- What I saw
- “When the neighboring packs are in place, this pack is difficult to lift out.”
- What I want to discuss
- “Can we compare the arrangement and the space for removing a pack?”
Process
Give one issue a clear follow-up.
With [sample reference], after [packing action], I saw [observation and location]. Please review [requested change or question]. Then repeat [the same check].
Use this wording with your own observations. Add a photo or measurement if you have one, and keep the earlier note when a revised sample arrives.
Overview
Agree what happens to this sample next.
- Revise and review again
- Keep the requested change with the sample reference, then repeat the affected packing checks.
- Ready for the next approval
- Ask the relevant reviewer to confirm the version, date, conditions and any points still open.
- Hold for an answer
- Name the unanswered question and agree what information is needed before the next step.
A sample decision covers the identified version and conditions reviewed. Separate document or performance requirements still need their relevant records.
